The Production David S. Steiner Tony Cacciotti Jeremy Kagan About Golda Meir

Tony is the producer of the film adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway hit, Golda’s Balcony, written by William Gibson.  Previously, he co-produced the first North American tour of Golda’s Balcony, winning the 2006 Touring Broadway Award for Best Play.  His Off-Broadway credits include: Neil’s Garden, All Under Heaven, and Short of Breath (which he previously directed and produced in Los Angeles).

Tony developed and produced a one-woman show for his wife, actress Valerie Harper, based on the life and work of Pearl S. Buck, which resulted in two productions.  The first, entitled The Dragon and The Pearl, played in Chicago, Hartford and Boston.  The final re-working of the subject matter created a new play, All Under Heaven, which he produced initially in Lynchburg, Virginia at Pearl S. Buck’s alma mater.  He then brought the play to New York City where it garnered excellent reviews, and subsequently produced All Under Heaven in Hollywood, in Florida, and for an East coast Tour.

For television, Tony executive-produced the NBC comedy series Valerie (Hogan Family), the CBS comedy series City and the NBC courtroom drama pilot Farrell for The People.  He developed a mini-series for ABC entitled China’s Pearl.

Tony is also well-known as the author of The Cacciotti Method, a successful Random house book based on his fitness and exercise regimen.  He directed the spectacular workout sequence in American Gigolo starring Richard Gere, and conducted the fitness and weight training for the entire cast of The Longest Yard (with Burt Reynolds and Eddie Albert).

Tony began his career as an actor, singer and dancer in theatre.  On Broadway, he appeared in the original casts of both Royal Hunt of the Sun (with Christopher Plummer) and Jesus Christ Superstar, and in the national tour of West Side Story he played the role of “Action.”  In film, he appeared in The Longest Yard, Hero at Large, and The Statue.  Television credits include Due South, The Love Boat, Mannix, Streets of San Francisco and Batman.  Tony resides in California with his wife, Valerie Harper and is the proud father of five, the youngest of whom, Cristina, is in the acting profession.
